The papers consist mainly of material collected by Dr C.L. Gabriel while he was a medical student in Edinburgh. There are letters to Dr Gabriel, copies of his testimonials, hospital tickets, extracts from medical journals, medical notes and examination papers. There is also an obituary of Dr Gabriel and a letter from Ralph Gabriel to the National Library.

Dr C.L. Gabriel was educated in Kempsey and Sydney and graduated in medicine from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He was Gundagai's chief medical officer from 1886 to 1927. Gabriel, Ralph Henry, 1890-1987

Ralph Henry Gabriel was born in 1890. He taught history at Yale University for forty-three years (1915-1958) and served as chairman of the History Department (1931-1934). Gabriel also taught at the United States School of Military Government (1943-1946) and was active in the American Historical Association.
